Breast Augmentation in Kalamazoo at Parkway Plastic Surgery
Breast augmentation mammoplasty is a surgical operation performed to enhance the breast contour. The procedure is performed for a number of different reasons, including:
- To enhance self-concept of a woman, who for personal reasons, feels her breast size is inadequate
- To correct the loss of breast volume after pregnancy or weight loss
- To balance breast size when there’s a significant difference between the size of the breasts
Breast contour improvement is accomplished by inserting a breast implant either behind the breast tissue or under the breast tissue and chest muscle. Incisions are made to keep the scars as inconspicuous as possible, and are usually under the breast, around the lower part of the areola, or in the armpit. The mesial of inserting and positioning breast implants will be influenced by the woman’s preferences, urinary anatomy, and the surgeon’s recommendations.
The shape and size of the breast prior to surgery will influence both the recommended treatment and the final results. If the breasts are not the same size or shape before surgery, it is more difficult to obtain complete symmetry afterward.
Indications: Smaller than desired breasts, breast asymmetry, or developmental deformity
Goal/Result: Larger breast size with normal contours
Anesthesia: General anesthesia
Recovery to Full Function: 7 to 10 days
