Mastopexy Recovery and Results from Parkway Plastic Surgery in Kalamazoo
Mastopexy, also known as breast lift, is a surgical procedure that raises and reshapes sagging breasts. Over time, breasts can lose their shape and firmness for a number of reasons, including pregnancy with nursing, aging, gravity, and weight change. However, there are also some young women who experience sagging breasts, as well, because of heredity. If desires, breast implants can be inserted in conjunction with mastopexy in order to increase firmness and/or size. In this post, we will look at what you can expect from mastopexy recovery and results.
After your mastopexy, dressings will be applied to the incisions and you will need to wear a supportive elastic bandage in order to support your breasts and limit swelling as you heal from surgery. You may also have a small tube for a short time to drain fluids that may collect under your skin. It is extremely important that you follow your surgeon’s instructions closely during your recovery period and take/use the medications you are prescribed. Your recovery period is dependent on your procedure and could be any where from one to six weeks in most cases.
The results or your mastopexy are visible immediately with swelling reducing and incisions fading over time. You can expect to see final results over the next several months as your lifted breasts shape and position adjust. While the results of your mastopexy are long-lasting, they will last even longer as long as you maintain your weight and keep a healthy lifestyle.
