Facts about Facelifts

If you’re considering getting a facelift, you probably have some questions. With so many sources for information out there, we wanted to put together a blog with some of the most frequently asked questions we hear from our patients.

When should I get a facelift?

Typically, people choose to get a facelift when signs of aging like sagging skin and deep lines and wrinkles become more prominent and are not improved by less invasive treatments and procedures. No matter your age, as long as you’re in good health, if you have sagging facial skin or loose skin on your neck, a facelift could be a great option for you!

What can I expect during recovery?

In the first few days after your procedure you will need to do as little as possible. You should also have someone who can help you as you need it. In general, recovery to full function is five to ten days. For most people, they are okay to return to work and resume normal activities about two weeks after their facelift. As with any other medical procedure, it’s important to follow post-operative instructions. And, if you have any concerns or issues, let your plastic surgeon know right away.

How long will the results last?

As with most cosmetic surgeries, the length of results can vary from patients to patient. However, there are things that you can do to prolong your results, such as staying out of the sun, wearing sunscreen when you’re outside, eating well, and seeing a skincare professional to ensure you’re properly taking care of your skin.
